Elden Ring combines mechanics found in all of FromSoftware’s titles. This includes the fast-paced action of more recent entries, as well as weapon types from older games – such as the Twinblades. There are even more returning mechanics, and one in particular is incredibly valuable for dealing damage. Those starting out in Elden Ring will want to figure out how to use Power Stance in order to wield two weapons at once, expanding their moveset and increasing their damage output.

Defeating a main boss in Elden Ring will get you a new Great Rune to use in the game.  These runes bestow great power on your character, but for each rune you collect you will need to climb different towers to activate the rune itself.  Once you’ve beaten the first main boss of the game, Godrick the Grafted, you will need to take his Great Rune to the Divine Tower of Limgrave in order to use it.

Elden Ring features, in true From Software fashion, the return of Patches, a merchant previously featured in the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, and Demon’s Souls. The only difference is that this time, upon meeting him on Murkwater Cave, he will present himself as a boss who will then ask to have his wife spared, giving players the choice to either agree or kill him.
