Mortal Kombat 11: How To Do Fatal Blows

mortal-kombat-11-11

Mortal Kombat has always been known for its incredibly over the top and violent Fatalities and Mortal Kombat 2011 introduced a new compliment known as X-Ray attacks. These were essentially ultimate attacks that you could use during battle, but they have now been changed to what are known as Fatal Blows. This guide will tell you just how you can and when you should use Fatal Blow attacks.

How To Do Fatal Blows In Mortal Kombat 11

The X-Ray attacks found in the previous two entries in the series were meter based depending on damage dealt and damage taken, with you able to execute them at any point that your meter was full. While Fatal Blows are essentially replacing these in Mortal Kombat 11, they are handled quite a bit differently with timing.

Rather than being able to activate your Fatal Blow at any time based on a meter, these are limited to later in the match. If you look at the health bar up top, you will notice an area with the final third of the bar that looks a little bit different. This is actually the Fatal Blow area of the meter, which you cannot use until you have reached less than 1/3 of your own health.

Once you are down to 1/3 or less of your health, you can then press both triggers at the same time to activate your Fatal Blow. The key is to do this when you can land an attack, as this can be blocked or outright missed if not done correctly. Once you land the attack, you will go into a cutscene showing the move itself.

Unlike the X-Ray attacks that could be activated multiple times per match or best of three matches, Fatal Blows are limited to one time for each character per every best of three matches. If you use up your Fatal Blow in round one, you cannot use it in round two or three, so sometimes it’s wise to hold off and use it as a last resort if you can.

If you do miss or have the Fatal Blow blocked, that does not use up your one per best of three. Instead, you have to wait a bit for it to cool down and then can try again. The Fatal Blow can really help to balance matches, so it’s a good idea to figure out when are the best times to activate them.
